Darwin’s Drabbles: Senses

03 Oct

At first, Darwin didn’t know he was doing something extraordinary. Couldn’t everyone occasionally predict the weather or guess what was going to be for dinner? Didn’t people “just know” things without being told?

“Mamma needs a new job,” he told his babysitter one afternoon when his mother was laid off, but before she’d come home to share the news.

“That’s gonna be Pop-Pop,” he told his mother 30 minutes before the phone rang.

“She misses her baby,” he told his Auntie Jesse about the grocery store clerk.

He was only six, and nobody goes about asking a child if he has E.S.P.

Who Is Darwin?
